San Diego's The Worthless play straight up, four chord street punk anthems ala The Undertones and The Dead Boys. Great, trashy, no future stylings. I had a lot of fun listening to this. Twice in a row. I mean, it isn't breaking down any doors marked "New Stuff In Here", but it's obvious that they really couldn't be bothered anyway. I loved the song "New York" where they take aim at Coney Island High--the only place to see punk bands, The Stitches, Max's, the lower East Side in particular, and skyscrapers in general. [Ed. note: Coney Island High is now gone as as are two particularly prominent and evocative skyscrapers] I have nothing against New York, but I do think they have The Worthless have a fucking great attitude, and their cd is as infectious as 1977 era Ramones. Normally I'd be bagging on some snotty newer "punk rock", but this was blatantly un-commercial.
