These Press Releases were under the auspices of Jon Shepard and mysef, and I think it was my idea to do them. I'm no expert in writing Press Releases but these came out satisfactory. Two weeks before the tournament I did a little legwork and scouted out 15 potentially receptive media outlets in the Palo Alto and San Francisco area. Most of them were Radio stations and TV stations. I'm not sure if I contacted any newspapers, but that would have been a good idea. Before the tournament I faxed and emailed these Press Releases to the 15 or so outlets, and after play on Saturday we did it again. As far as I know, we got no response. It didn't help that it rained Saturday night, forcing the Finals to be moved to obscure fields.
