What was your "biggest" game? (Did you come from behind, have a couple of key players hurt, have someone step up etc, play incredible defense to win....etc)

Down 14-11 in a game to 15 against archrivals ECU played great defense and offense to score 4 straight points and win 15-14

Who are the players to watch?

Brian Snyder, Chris Hinkle, Brian Lang, Pat Hard

Why? Offensive skills, defensive skills, go to person, long bomb threat etc...

Brain Snyder and Chris Hinkle are biggest offensive weapons-huge deep throws and catches.
Brian Lang is all around play maker with great throws, can defend any player.
Pat Hard is big deep threat, always plays hurt and makes all kinds of nasty catches.

had teams off and on since 1978. Serious team for last 7-8 years

THE FOLLOWING IS ONLY FOR THE UPA NEWSLETTER AND WILL NOT BE PUBLISHED
UNTIL AFTER NATIONAL COMPETITION.

It will only be used to assist our writer in covering your team and how you play Ultimate.

What is your typical offense?

we play a variety of offenses including the regular stack, a spread offense, and plays that use different set-ups

Who are your go-to people?

Brian Snyder, Chris Hinkle, Kris Bass

> Handlers Chris Hinkle, Pat McNally, Mick Ribault

> Middles Brian Lang, Rhett Nichols, JD Howard

> Deeps Pat Hard, Kevin Kusy, Brian Snyder

What type of strategies work best?

our strategy centers on aggresive offense and full tilt defense. we like to go deep a lot and throw scores. Although this is a high risk offense we try to back it up by playing hard defense

What is your typical defense? man to man

> Best zone? 4 man cup w/trap

> Best defensive players? Sam Dengler, Josh Reilly, Bryan Bolduc,

> Best plays on defense this year? great plays turned in by most players,

best team D played in Regional semis and finals vs Duke and ECU

Strategy that works best for your team?

rev up the buzzsaw

One other quick but important question: What would be your team's favorite warm up song?
Please name the artist and the song title

Raising Hell by Run DMC

STANFORD WOMEN

hey!

here's the stanford women's info. i don't know if you've already gotten it from somewhere else, but i was just going through old email and realized this was due today, so here it is.
[Ed. Note: I believe Karen Hyun wrote this?]

What tournaments have you played this year?

santa barbara classic
tempe
stanford invite
easterns
fools west
sectionals
DUI
regionals

How did you do in these tournaments?

we won all the college tournaments and placed respectably in the club ones...

What was your "biggest" game? (Did you come from behind, have a couple of key players hurt, have someone step up etc, play incredible defense to win....etc)

we played a great game against UBC in the finals of stanford invite. our most exciting game was in a club tournament (fools) against the heat baggettes, which actually ended up being a two point loss. we played really well though and they went on to win the tournament by seven or eight points in the finals.

Who are the players to watch?

all of us...it's really hard to pick people out. andrea johnson and mary hunt martin hold the most offensive responsibility, both can lay it out on D as well. alicia mercer is a speedy all-star receiver and does more than her share on defense. joy "chewie" chen is already famous for her face-paint and incredible defense. camille yu, karen hyun, and delia chiu are up and coming youngsters who are also worth watching.

but, as i said before, everyone is worth watching. also often seen in the starting lineup: robin knowler, jocelyn james, sam salvia, erin percival, gwynn masada.

Why? Offensive skills, defensive skills, go to person, long bomb threat etc...

see above

How long has the sport been at your school?

i think the women's team has been around for about 12 years, but i could be wrong...

How has your school improved its program?

each year we get a little more money from the school, but we as a team have worked hard fund raising and for sponsorships.

Total number of players at your school?

there are about 45 players between the women's A and B teams, but 18 specifically on the A team, superfly.

How often does your team practice?

four times a week in the winter and spring, sometimes a fifth day if we don't have a tournament that weekend.

When was your first official practice for the College series?

right at the beginning of school, in mid september, but we don't make teams until december, so that's when we really start practicing as a team.

How has SOTG fit in with your program?

we take great pride in ultimate and its uniqueness, specifically SOTG. from the beginning, we teach our new players about the importance of respecting other teams and other players as a way of maintaining the purity of the sportsmanship of ultimate.

What percentage of players are

> Grad 25%-(up from 0% last year!)

> Seniors 15%

> Juniors 10%

> Soph 25%

> Freshman 25%

Anything else about your team that is unique?

superfly has been known to dance line dances to help the nerves right before the final game of nationals. we know how to work hard and also how to have fun. i think this is probably true of all the teams at nationals, so it may not really make us unique, but it makes us cool.

here's a unique fact: our favorite practical joke that we play on each other is "peeping." this involves taking a lot of peeps, the easter candy, and decorating someone's car, rental van, hotel room, etc., with the cute little colored marshmellow chicks. hours of entertainment.

What is your typical offense?

we have several different stack offenses, and some less traditional ones to spice it up now and then.

Who are your go-to people?

> Handlers: Mary Hunt, A.J., camille

> Middles: Sam

> Deeps: Alicia

What type of strategies work best?

um, we may continue using those after nationals...

What is your typical defense?

i guess we don't really have a typical defense

> Best zone?

> Best defensive players? delia, chewie

> Best plays on defense this year?

Strategy that works best for your team? offering free food for lay-out D's

One other quick but important question: What would be your team's favorite warm up song?
Please name the artist and the song title

will smith, gettin' jiggy

and also TLC's no scrub

These team bios are just two of the 20 or so collected before the tournament in an attempt to get to know the teams. All of them are a little different. The questions were posed by me.
